C’ville Au Pair Bucketlist

 

I created a list of possible things for Charlottesville Au Pairs to include on their “bucketlist.”

  • Attend a UVA football game or other college athletic game.
  • Visit Monticello and dine at Michie Tavern.
  • Hike one of the many popular trails in the area such as Humpback Rocks or Old Rag.
  • Go to a Dance Party or show at the Jefferson Theatre on Downtown Mall.
  • Tube down the James River (summer in Scottsville).
  • Attend CLAWville Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers.
  • Catch Charlottesville’s Derby Dames Roller Derby in action.
  • Listen to one of the many local bands/artists perform at Fridays After Five.
  • Stroll Charlottesville’s Saturday open air market or other markets.
  • Visit Carter’s Mountain Orchard (July prime peach picking, September prime apples).
  • Watch a movie at the Violet Crown, Alamo, or Stonefield 14 (check out MoviePass)
  • Attend a Foxfield Horse Race.
  • Tour the Rotunda at University of Virginia, Gardens, and Chapel.
  • Picnic under the stars at Veritas Starry Nights.
  • Watch the fireworks at McIntire Park on the 4th of July.
  • Watch the sun set over C’ville atop Carter’s Mountain during their Sunset Series.
  • Play Chick-a-Pig at Kardinal Hall.
  • Experience New Years at Virginia’s First Night festivities.
  • Go to Uva’s Lighting of the Lawn (Christmas season).
  • Go snow tubing, skiing, or snowboarding at Wintergreen.
  • Relax at Sherando lakeside beach or camp overnight.
  • Attend a Uva Marching band rehearsal.
  • Attend a trivia night at Random Row brewery.
  • Watch a movie at the Goochland Drive In theatre.
  • Attend a Polo Match.
  • Take Salsa lessons then join the dance party every Sunday @ IX (Cville Salsa Club).
  • Attend a Naturalization ceremony at Monticello on July 4.
  • Attend an event with the International Students Inc. at UVA.
  • Jump on the NYC shuttle (megabus) to New York City for a weekend getaway.
  • Go to Busch Gardens/Jamestown/Williamsburg for a weekend.
  • Go to Kings Dominion for the day.
  • Eat bagels at Bodo’s.
  • Escape Charlottesville’s Escape Room.
  • Shopping Trip to Short Pump Mall (Richmond area).
  • See a Shakespearian play at The American Shakespeare Center in Staunton.
  • Experience a concert at John Paul Jones Arena.
  • Go to a Rodeo at Oakland Heights Farm in Gordonsville (or a trail ride).
  • Check out the Virginia Film Festival (Celebrity sightings!).
  • Disc Golf with friends at Walnut Creek Park.
  • Climb the walls at Rocky Top Gym.
  • Hike, bike, or run the city and county trails.
  • See a performance or ballet at the Paramount Theatre.
  • Putt-Putt.
  • Eat tacos at Brazos.
  • Shoot a gun at a shooting range.
  • Go Bowling at AMF Keglers.
  • Go see Santa on Mountainview Street (tacky Christmas lights to the extreme).
  • Ride in a hot air balloon.
  • Trail blaze the Rivanna Trail.
  • Go down the river with the Rivanna River Company.
  • Visit Luray Caverns.
  • Jump at the trampoline park.
  • Take the plunge at Massanutten’s Waterpark.
  • Go to Virginia Beach for the weekend.
  • Catch an art show or band at The Garage.
  • Weekend Trip it to DC, visit the National Mall and Zoo (free).
  • Play paintball with friends.
  • Eat a cupcake at Sweethaus.
  • Survive the Virginia heat by running through one of C’ville’s sprinkler parks.
  • Cruise Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline Drive in the fall.
  • Tour a winery, cidery, or brewery…or take a Hop on Tour.
  • Visit Maymont or Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond.
  • Attend a Barbeque.
  • Attend a music festival.
  • Skydive at Skydive Orange.
  • Muse at the art and events at IX Art Park.
  • Observe the stars at McCormick Observatory every 1st and 3rd Friday night.
  • Make your mark on the Freedom of Speech Wall.
